Salomon Pelaez Cardona

Of Counsel | Colombia Tax, Corporate & Statutory Audit Counsel — Colombia Team

Where Colombian Law Meets the Numbers

Salomón Peláez Cardona serves as Of Counsel to Law Offices Of SRIS, P.C. and is a member of the firm’s Colombia team, working under the direction of Eric Duport Jaramillo, Lead Attorney for Colombia Operations. He is licensed in Colombia both as a lawyer (Abogado) and as a Certified Public Accountant (Contador Público) — a dual qualification that lets him analyze a matter from the legal side and the financial side at the same time. He works in Spanish; English-speaking clients meet with him through a firm-arranged interpreter, with Eric Duport Jaramillo coordinating the matter. For nearly two decades, Mr. Peláez Cardona has worked inside the books of Colombian companies as a statutory auditor (Revisor Fiscal) and as a tax and corporate advisor. For the firm’s clients, that means Colombian business, tax, and asset questions are handled by someone who has spent his career reading financial statements, tax returns, and corporate records the way regulators and auditors read them.
Blunt Truth: In Colombia, many business, inheritance, and divorce disputes are really tax and accounting disputes. If your lawyer cannot read a balance sheet, a tax return, or an audit opinion, you are negotiating half-blind. Mr. Peláez Cardona reads all three.

The Dual-Credential Advantage: Lawyer and Public Accountant

Mr. Peláez Cardona’s standing rests on two separate Colombian professional licenses and long-running audit and advisory work:
  • Licensed Colombian Lawyer (Abogado): Professional Card No. 266102, issued by the Consejo Superior de la Judicatura (2015).
  • Licensed Colombian Public Accountant (Contador Público): Professional Card No. 123548-T (2006).
  • Statutory Auditor (Revisor Fiscal) since 2008: Served as Delegate Statutory Auditor at D.C.P. Auditores y Revisores Fiscales S.A. (2008–2012), assigned to ten companies across manufacturing, telecommunications, real estate, and investment. He continues to serve as Revisor Fiscal for Colombian companies today.
  • Tax and Corporate Advisor since 2012: Ongoing tax, accounting, and corporate advisory work for Pereira business groups, real estate development companies, and family holding companies.
